This Privacy Policy explains how YVEI handles personal information provided through this website and its public forms. We aim to collect only what is needed, use it responsibly, and protect it appropriately.

1. Information we collect

YVEI may collect information that you choose to provide through contact messages, volunteer applications, partnership enquiries, newsletter subscriptions, event registrations when offered, and donation forms.

  • Contact details such as name, email address, telephone number and country.
  • Organization, professional profile, skills, interests and availability where relevant to a submission.
  • Messages, enquiry details and supporting documents such as a volunteer CV.
  • Donation details such as donor name, contact details, amount, frequency, payment reference and payment status.

2. How we use information

  • To respond to enquiries and partnership requests.
  • To review and manage volunteer applications.
  • To administer event registrations and newsletter communications where those services are offered.
  • To initiate, verify, acknowledge and maintain records of donations.
  • To protect the website, prevent abuse and maintain appropriate organizational records.

3. Online payments

Online donations may be processed through Paystack. Payment-card information is entered on Paystack’s secure checkout and is not stored by YVEI’s website. Paystack processes payment information under its own privacy terms. YVEI receives transaction details needed to verify and record the donation, such as the payment reference, amount and status.

4. When information may be shared

YVEI does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers that support website forms, file storage, communications or payment processing, only to the extent needed to provide those services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or needed to protect people, rights or safety.

5. Retention and security

YVEI keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, organizational record-keeping, safeguarding, dispute resolution or applicable legal obligations. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

6. Children’s privacy

YVEI’s programmes may involve children, but this public website is not intended to invite children to submit personal information without appropriate adult involvement. Information relating to children must be handled in line with YVEI’s Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Policy.

7. Your choices and requests

You may ask YVEI to review, correct or delete personal information you have submitted, subject to records YVEI must retain. You may also ask to stop receiving optional communications.

8. Changes and contact

YVEI may update this notice when its website practices change. The Last Updated date will identify the current version. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to yveinitiative@gmail.com.
